Her sound was fresh and new, when everybody sounded the same. They dubbed it punk-pop, and she was the skater girl to everybody else’s princess. She played cover songs at county fairs until she burst onto the scene and snapped up a top spot on the charts with her release of “Complicated.”
After a fifteen-minute audition, Arista signed her on for a million-dollar deal. They immediately knew she was a star. She didn’t disappoint. Instead, she produced hit after hit after hit.
