Everything You Need to Know About Bikini Wax
So you’ve heard of a Brazillian bikini wax and aren’t quite sure about what it is? It’s cool, we’ll explain all the details.
When it comes to our bikini body and the sensitive areas it involves, it sounds pretty weird to have someone help remove the hair in these sacred places.
But how else are you going to get that buttery smooth finish? If you’re considering a bikini wax, we’ll let you in on what to expect.
What is a Bikini Wax?
A bikini wax is aimed at removing the hair in unwanted places. This can include areas such as outside your panty line, legs, groin area, buttocks, lower stomach, and back.
While it might sound ridiculous to get a bikini wax, it is a pretty common part of many women’s lives.
When bikini waxing becomes a part of your routine, it can remove the need for shaving. You may even prefer the wax finish as opposed to the shaving razor.
How Long Does a Bikini Wax Last?
The smoothness of your bikini wax should last anywhere from two to four weeks. This can vary depending on how often you’ve waxed and the rate your body promotes hair growth.
Once you get a bikini wax, you should wait at least 4-6 weeks before booking another appointment.
Your hair should be at least ¼ of an inch long for an effective waxing session. Short hairs can’t be properly grabbed by the wax, so you must have enough hair length before your next session.
Different Types of Bikini Waxes
When getting your first bikini wax, you should have an idea of what kind of wax you would like.
Rather than awkwardly explaining to your waxer what parts you want to be waxed, you should let them know the type of wax you want by their name.
We’ll explain the different types of bikini waxes and what they are.
Traditional Bikini Wax
The traditional bikini wax is the most common and the perfect option for newcomers. This is just a clean-up of the area right outside of your panty line.
Brazilian Bikini Wax
There are several types of Brazilian bikini waxes available. If you’re someone who wears thong bikinis or you prefer to have the hair “down there” removed, then a Brazillian bikini wax may be the right choice for you.
Mini
A mini Brazilian bikini wax removes all of the hair from your frontal area.
Full
Similarly to the mini, a full Brazilian wax removes hair from the front as well as the back (your buttocks & butt crack).
Plus
The plus includes your lower stomach area, removing an unwanted “happy trail” if needed.
South
A Brazilian south bikini wax includes waxing your leg hairs as well. You might as well get rid of all the hair you can if you’re already getting the full Brazilian!
French Bikini Wax
A French bikini wax leaves a small strip in the front if that’s your style.
Full Bikini Wax
A full bikini wax is slightly deeper than the panty line and also removes a bit off the top of the front area.
This leaves a defined triangle and cleans up a bit more than a regular bikini wax.
Buttocks
You can choose to get your buttocks waxed. There are two options: just the butt crack or your entire buttocks.
Before, During, and After Your Wax…
Like we mentioned earlier, it’s important to know what kind of bikini wax you want beforehand.
Also, make sure you wash up within 24 hours of your waxing session to be courteous of your waxer as well as your self-consciousness.
It is also suggested that you avoid waxes while you’re on your period for those same reasons.
During your wax, don’t be hesitant to let your technician know if you’re uncomfortable with something. Expect the pain, but don’t overestimate it.
Believe it or not, a lot of the pain associated with waxing has a lot to do with your mentality.
The first time will usually be the most painful. Times after that will continually hurt less and less.
Now that you know more about bikini waxes, are you going to consider getting one? We hope our insight helped you feel more comfortable with the idea.
As long as you keep in mind what we shared, your first bikini wax should be a breeze!
